For my 3 thesis ideas, here are my 3 keywords for each:

3 Keywords

  1. Subject Matter/Message
  2. Ending Point (audience, field presented)
  3. How are we gonna get there (methodology/medium)

Sensational Chef

  • Senses, This idea makes use of the five senses: smell, sight, sound, touch, and taste.
  • Scholars, This idea is aimed at scholars interested in experimental design.
  • Game, This idea is a game for multiple players with a win state.
  • This game utilizes the senses to create an experience for scholars.

Giovanni’s Room

  • Narrative, This idea is based around the narrative of James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room.
  • Youth, This idea is aimed at queer youth interested in historical literature.
  • Game, This idea is a game that puts players in the world of the novel.
  • This game extends the narrative of Giovanni’s Room to create a queer experience.

Drag Castlevania

  • Drag, This idea is based around the drag culture of Chicago.
  • Queers, This idea is aimed at queers interested in drag as a form of expression.
  • Game, This idea is a game for players to both fight and express themselves.
  • This Metroidvania-inspired video game pulls from the art form of drag in its story, mechanics, and community-based design to create an experience aimed at queer players.
    • “Metroidvania – Metroidvania is a sub-genre of action-adventure games and/or platformers focused on guided non-linearity and utility-gated exploration and progression” (from Wikipedia sorry 🙁 )
